Mallory Grubb of Amherst Central in New York, a Northwestern signee, placed second in the girls 2,000-meter steeplechase championship in a personal-best 7:00.89 at Nike Outdoor Nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Grubb improved from a seventh-place finish last year in 7:06.84.
